		<description>This idea is not new -- physicians in the UK first suggested taking the Pill off-prescription in the 1970s.  I&#039;m currently working on an article on unsuccessful attempts to do the same in the States.  Feminist health activists and consumer protection groups have made similar arguments about safety.  Then there is the anti-abortion movement, some factions of which are trying to convince legislators and judges that an egg=life and therefore all attempts to prevent conception are &quot;murder.&quot;</description>
